Arrival in Kampala: Arrive in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, either by air or road. Travel to Gulu: Depending on your preference, either take a domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport to Gulu or embark on a scenic road trip. Gulu serves as a good stopover point before heading to Kidepo. Overnight in Gulu: Spend the night in Gulu, where you can relax and prepare for the journey to Kidepo the next day.
Journey to Kidepo National Park: Depart from Gulu early in the morning for the approximately 6-8 hour drive to Kidepo National Park. The drive offers stunning views of rural Uganda and local communities. Arrival at Kidepo: Arrive at Kidepo National Park in the afternoon. Check into your chosen accommodation option, which could be a lodge or campsite within or near the park. Afternoon Game Drive: Enjoy an afternoon game drive in Kidepo National Park, where you'll have the chance to spot a variety of wildlife such as elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, and more. Sunset: Witness the breathtaking sunset over the vast savannah plains of Kidepo. Dinner and Overnight: Return to your accommodation for dinner and spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.
Morning Game Drive: Wake up early for a morning game drive when wildlife is most active. Explore different parts of the park to maximize your chances of encountering a diverse range of animals. Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast in the bush, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature. Visit Kidepo Valley: Spend the mid-morning exploring Kidepo Valley, known for its stunning scenery and abundant wildlife. Cultural Interaction: In the afternoon, visit a local community neighboring the park to learn about the indigenous cultures and traditions of the Karamojong people. Sundowner: Experience a memorable sundowner at a scenic location within the park, savoring the panoramic views as the sun sets. Dinner and Overnight: Return to your accommodation for dinner and relax under the starry African sky.
Guided Nature Walk: Embark on a guided nature walk in the park, accompanied by an experienced ranger who will provide insights into the flora and fauna of Kidepo. Hot Springs Visit: Visit the Kanangorok Hot Springs, located in the remote northern part of the park, where you can observe the bubbling springs and perhaps catch a glimpse of wildlife drawn to the area. Departure: After lunch, begin your journey back to Gulu or Kampala, depending on your onward travel plans. Alternatively, you can extend your stay in Kidepo National Park for more wildlife encounters and exploration.
